The Norton Middle School Bands
The directors and support staff of the Norton Band
program believe music has a vital role in education and the
human mind. It is our goal to educate every student to
the fullest extend in fundamental skill development,
cognitive understanding, and aesthetic appreciation for all
forms of music from all cultures. The staff works with
students on performance, rehearsal, and personal practice
skills. Students are encouraged to have a good work
ethic, show consistent progress, and develop personal goals
while achieving new skills. The Norton Middle School
instrumental education begins in the Fifth Grade Beginning
Band, and it continues in the sixth, seventh, and eighth
grade bands. The sixth, seventh, and eighth grade
bands are team taught during a 40 minute band class every
day.
